FAMILY DAYS OUT IN DINGLE
If you’re staying in Dingle with your family, you’ll have no problem finding fun things to do. The Dingle peninsula is really just one big playground. From boat trips to beehive huts, there is much to explore and discover, whatever your age.
Something Fishy
A few minutes’ walk from the Dingle Bay Hotel, you’ll find the Dingle Oceanworld Aquarium. This is a particularly good option if the weather is a bit wet. There are tanks full of colourful creatures, as well as sharks and tortoises. Your kids will think they’re in Finding Nemo! Some of them even swim overhead as you walk through the centre. You can stroke rays and hold a starfish. You’ll even find penguins here.
All at Sea
Also just a few minutes from the hotel is the marina, where you can book trips to see Fungie the dolphin (depending on the weather). This friendly guy has been swimming around Dingle Bay for more than three decades, so it would be rude not to say hello! Your kids will get a great buzz from seeing this energetic creature dive and swim beside the boat. This is a great trip for all the family.
Out & About
Away from things marine, a trip around Slea Head is a wonderful experience, even if your children say they’re bored by historical artefacts. They will get great fun out of the beehive huts and enjoy the various pristine beaches dotted around the peninsula. Talking of beaches, you have a selection to choose from, including the wide expanse of Ventry beach and the crashing waves of Cumeenole Strand. One of the most popular family beaches in Kerry, Inch Beach, is also on the Dingle Peninsula.
For active kids, there’s lots to do: Local stables will bring riders of all abilities (and none) horse riding along the beach. Then there’s surfing at Inch Beach. Or you could all rent bikes and cycle around Slea Head. You’ll soon discover that Dingle was made for families.
